even though this is an American book, the main premise of being a self-representing artist and all the practicalities discussed in this extremely useful publication are relevant anywhere. He quite rightly dismisses the old idea of the 'starving artist' having to sacrifice earning money to make beautiful art - either do it as a hobby, or get out there and sell, it is a business at the end of the day! One small criticism is that fairly often the artists quoted are those selling work for many thousands, which is highly unlikely for the majority of artists who would buy this, but otherwise there is a great deal of information, very up to date (2016) and very workable plans and ideas to step away from galleries and be your own boss in the art world. Cory isn't a visual artist himself, his background is theatre and digital marketing, but he knows the art world and anyone wanting to take his ideas further can go on to use his online business. As someone who does her own events as well as major shows and galleries, I can highly recommend this book to make you stop and look at where you are going as an artist, and for me it is helping enormously with developing and expanding online.
